The Story Behind UMoneyMinded
Unapologetically money-minded is a blog about money and personal finance for UK residing Non Resident Indians.
Why did I bother?
Most of us grow up in a society where talking about money with your parents, friends and relatives is a bit of a taboo. If you bring up money at the dinner table or family or social gatherings you are sure to make everyone around uncomfortable. And you might be made to feel apologetic, guilty even of being greedy and money-minded.
Often,
apologetically that we ask for equal contribution from a friend for a coffee catch-up or pizza dinner.
apologetically that we ask our partner to contribute proportionately towards “ghar kharcha”.
apologetically that we ask a relative to return the money they once borrowed from us.
apologetically that we ask for our money we needlessly spent on a random friend’s wedding/birthday/hospitalisation.
apologetically that we ask customers or clients to pay for the products or services they got from us.
it goes on…
But this is a place where you and I can unapologetically talk about savings money, investing money, generating tax-efficient returns and in general be money-minded.
